Corfe Castle in Dorset is a much photographed landscape. It requires a degree of planning and anticipation of the right weather conditions, and a little luck. Arriving well before sunrise you can never be quite sure what scene will greet you, as you ascend through the gloom to the view point on the Downs to the west of Corfe Village. I was very fortunate to experience both wonderful ethereal mist, and a beautifully lit sky to the north east during this late August morning. The Castle ruins appear like a ghostly shipwreck drifting on a shallow ocean towards the rising sun.
