About
I am a professional photographer and ecologist. I’ve had a fulfilling career working in nature conservation both in the UK and Europe. As a photographer I’m interested in creating images that give expression to the sublime beauty and wonder of the natural world. As an ecologist I have an interest in the interconnectedness of wildlife, habitats and ecosystems. I am committed to using photography to support wildlife conservation through illustrating and communicating the beauty and essential value of nature. I enjoy working with others and helping to illustrate how photography can enhance peoples experience and enjoyment of being immersed in nature. As a community I believe we have an important role to play in fostering a deep love for nature and in promoting the essential need to maintain and support nature in the face of many environmental challenges. A healthy, vibrant, rich natural world is fundamental to all our wellbeing.
My Photography
I am drawn to subjects that have inspired me throughout my life. I am eternally curious and fascinated by the perpetual cycles of change exhibited by nature, at all scales. I’m influenced by the cycle of the seasons, the natural growth patterns of plants and animals, and the complex habitats and ecosystems they occur in. I am just as drawn to the dew drops on a butterfly’s wing as I am by the ethereal beauty of a misty woodland. I strive and hope that sometimes I might succeed in adding some artistic content to my pictures.
inspiration
I am particularly inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of my home county of Wiltshire which includes wonderful Ancient Woodlands, Chalk Downs and Wildflower Meadows. I do naturally sometimes travel in search of further inspiration.
